“You Did It!”

Okay, peeps! The 50 Book Challenge is complete and and a few readers proudly presented their reading logs full of a year’s worth of adventurous book choices. Again, thanks to everyone who made this such a fun experience!

Many of the Book Share participants have expressed an interest in continuing to meet. Here is the proposal:

How about, once again, meeting about every 10 weeks or so? I jotted down the following dates:

Monday August 20

Monday October 29

Monday January 14

It will be an informal, group-led endeavor. If you have a different meeting schedule in mind then, by all means, speak up! I will reserve a space for you (and I will even provide the cookies and cider!) Woohoo! Books AND cookies. Sigh, life is so good.

Looking to the Future…

  Greetings fellow Challengers! I hope this finds you all recovering from the happy chaos of your holiday festivities. What a great week to reflect on the year passed and look to the exciting journeys ahead! We started this 50 Week Challenge on February 26, 2011. I think most of us have moved along with our LISTS, alternately embracing and cursing our dogged committment to reading 50 books in one year.

I have NOT been keeping track in my spiffy reading log, but I am confident that I have been true to the spirit of the challenge. I have loved hearing about your reading choices and have read many books suggested that I may not have otherwise considered. Thank you all so much for sharing your titles and your reviews!

The final official Bookshare is on Monday January 23 (eeeghads) 2012. The group has expressed an interest in meeting regularly, sans the “challenge” anxiety. At this January meeting perhaps those in attendance can decide on a schedule for future bookshares? …And they need to come up with a catchy name! Thoughts, anyone?

We will once again enter all our challengers into a “You Did It!” raffle (a reading-themed basket) to close out the year-long initiative. We’ll choose the winning ticket at the final Bookshare.

Here’s to the New Year and all the reading promise it brings…the newly-minted, yet-to-be-written, and old favorites. Thanks for all the fun! Happy Reading!

Welcome to the 50 Book Challenge!

If you’re reading this, you’ve already signed up at the  Library to challenge yourself to read 50 books in 50 weeks!! Good for you!

I’m really excited about sharing this journey with all you challengers…imagine the great list of inspiring, trashy, provocative, amusing, startling and hopefully worthwhile books we’ll have at the end of our quest! 

This blog is for all of you.  Feel free to comment on what you are reading, post suggestions for all of us, and offer encouragement for those of us that may find the task a tad bit daunting! I will try to keep up with my own book comments, but I need your help to create a lively forum for sharing our love of stories. So put up a posting…tell us all what you’re reading.
